Awareness to Action Domestic Violence Conference

The 2nd annual Awareness to Action Domestic Violence Conference will be held November 5th-7th, 2024, at the Casino del Sol in Tucson, Arizona. The Pascua Yaqui Prosecutor’s Office hosts the conference. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Sewa U’usim program sponsors a resource fair, bringing together providers, advocacy organizations, and community groups to provide resources and information to attendees. There is no registration fee for this event!

This conference is designed for professionals with expertise in domestic violence prevention, including victim advocates, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, social workers, judges, court personnel, and others working in related fields. The conference will place a special emphasis on how Domestic Violence impacts Native communities and victims. However, all are welcome to attend. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by domestic violence. Our goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence issues and continue the fight against violence in our communities.

This year’s agenda will include discussions on the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act related to restored Tribal jurisdiction. The conference will also cover domestic and family violence, victim advocacy, trauma-informed care, criminal case processing, and legal updates specific to Tribal communities.

Event updates and additional details will be added in the coming weeks. For inquiries or further information, please contact us at 520-879-6251 or awarenesstoactionconference@pascuayaqui-nsn.gov .
