Indigenous full-time undergraduate and graduate students can apply now through January 31, 2025 for Summer 2025 climate change internships with Tribal organizations through the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP).

  • What: Ten-week paid summer internship working with a Tribal organization, with a research, technical, educational, or policy focus.
  • Eligibility: Full-time undergraduate and graduate students majoring in an environmental or related field who identify as Indigenous and are U.S. citizens.
  • Compensation: $8,000 stipend; travel and housing stipends may also be available.
  • Application: ITEP Indigenous Climate Change Program Summer 2025 Internship Application.
  • Application Deadline: January 31, 2025.

Summer 2025 Indigenous Climate Change Program Internship 

The ITEP Indigenous Climate Change Program Summer 2025 Internship application period is now open. Indigenous students can apply now for a paid 10-week summer internship with a Tribal organization to address Indigenous environmental issues. Each internship has a research, technical, educational, or policy focus.

Each internship offers an $8,000 stipend, as well as travel and housing stipends if relocation is required. Each applicant may apply to up to five positions with one application.

More about the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals

ITEP was established at Northern Arizona University in 1992, in cooperation with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, with the mission to strengthen Tribal capacity and sovereignty in environmental and natural resource management through culturally relevant education, research, partnerships, and policy-based services. ITEP has offered student summer internships for Native American and other college students since 1994.
