Tribal youth are encouraged to attend, participate in, and request scholarships for the 2024 National Tribal Leaders Climate Summit. This annual conference hosted by the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) takes place on April 15-17 in Auburn, Washington, and will engage Tribal leaders, citizens, staff, youth, and collaborators in conversation about navigating the cultural, economic, and social challenges of climate change.

Participate in the Summit
The panel discussion “Empowering Tribal Youth in Climate Action” engages Tribal youth involved in climate initiatives to share reflections and set expectations for impactful climate action. The panel will explore how Tribal climate youth activists explore challenges, opportunities, and the synergy between traditional ecological knowledge and contemporary approaches, as well as discuss methods to integrate climate education into school curricula and community programs, emphasizing collaborative efforts and mentorship structures that empower Tribal youth in driving climate initiatives.
Abstracts for this and other panel speaker presentations will be accepted through Thursday, February 15, 2023. To submit an abstract for a panel speaker presentation, fill out the 2024 National Tribal Leaders Climate Summit Abstract Submission Form.
Tribal youth are also encouraged to submit posters that summarize a personal project or research, or resources they would like to share with summit attendees. Participants will give two-to-three-minute “lightning” presentations about their poster. Presentations will be followed by a poster session and networking event.
Abstracts for poster session presentations will be accepted through Friday, March 1. To submit an abstract for a poster presentation, fill out the 2024 National Tribal Leaders Climate Summit Abstract Submission Form.
Request a Scholarship to Attend the Summit
Summit attendees may apply for scholarships for registration, airfare, mileage, and/or lodging. Please note that scholarships are limited and may be awarded on a case-by-case basis.

About the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians
The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) was formed in 1953 by Tribal leaders in the Northwest. Today, ATNI is a non-profit organization representing 57 Tribal governments from Oregon, Idaho, Washington, southeast Alaska, Northern California, and Western Montana. Through its conferences, forums, networks, and alliances ATNI to represents and advocates for the interests of its member Tribes to national Indian and non-Indian organizations and governments.
