Indian Land Records and Title Regulation Updates (25 CFR 150)

Proposed Rule: Indian Land Records and Title (25 CFR 150)

On December 11, 2020, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) published a proposed rule to modernize the current regulations governing the Land Title and Records Office (LTRO). The LTRO maintains title documents for land held in trust or restricted status for individual Indians and Tribes (Indian land). This proposed rule would replace outdated provisions and allow for more widespread efficiencies by reflecting current practices, while creating a framework for future LTRO operations. A presention providing an overview of the proposed rule is available here: presentation.
