Archeology

Archeology handles Section 106 compliance on Native Allotments and Trust Land, including the identification of historic properties, determining the eligibility of potential historic properties for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, and the avoidance, minimization, or mitigation of historic properties adversely affected by an undertaking. Archeology also reviews Section 106 compliance documents submitted to BIA for BIA funded projects.

If you have questions about Archeology, contact Joseph Sparaga, Regional Archeologist, at 907-271-4003 or Joseph.Sparaga@bia.gov.

The Archeology program operates under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act 54 USC 306108
