Case Status Type

Missing Person Investigation

  • Open - The case is currently being reviewed for investigation or is actively being investigated.
  • Closed/Administrative – The case was closed due to non-jurisdiction case, or assistance was offered by MMU but denied by jurisdictional Law Enforcement agency.
  • Closed/Declined - The appropriate prosecutor's office declined criminal prosecution.
  • Closed/Solved - The investigation resulted in locating the missing person/human remains. No further investigations will occur.
  • Closed/Submitted - for Prosecutorial Review - The case was presented to the appropriate prosecutor's office for review and criminal prosecution consideration.
  • Closed/Unfounded - The case investigation located the missing person and/ or, after investigation, the case was a false report. No further investigation is warranted.
  • Closed/Unsolved - The investigation was completed, and the missing person remains missing.

Murder Investigation

  • Open - The case is currently being reviewed for investigation or is actively being investigated.
  • Closed/Administrative – The case was closed due to non-jurisdiction case, or assistance was offered by MMU but denied by jurisdictional Law Enforcement agency.
  • Closed/Declined - The appropriate prosecutor's office declined criminal prosecution.
  • Closed/Solved - The investigation resulted with indictment or criminal prosecution. No further investigations will occur.
  • Closed/Submitted - Submitted for Prosecutorial Review - The case was presented to the appropriate prosecutor's office for review for criminal prosecution consideration.
  • Closed/Unfounded - The case investigation determined there were no evidence of foul play, and / or after investigation, the case was a false report. No further investigation is warranted.
  • Closed/Unsolved - The investigation was completed, and the case remains unsolved.
