Final 2021 Tiwahe Project Report

In consultation with participating Tribes, the Bureau published a final report that includes measures of success and guidelines for other Tribes wanting to implement the model with Tribal Priority Allocation funds. The Report provided the Congress with the pilot cites’ and the Bureau's experiences and viewpoints in implementing the Tiwahe Demonstration Project. 

Central California Agency

Topic

The Central California Agency is the primary level that provides and coordinates the delivery of Bureau of Indian Affairs program services for 56 federally recognized tribes and 123 Public Domain Allotments within its service area, the largest multi-tribal field office in the contiguous 48 states. Tribal land bases are relatively small ranging in size from less than one acre to over 54,000 acres. There are four tribes that currently do not have any land in trust status.

To promote and advocate maximum Indian participation in the programs and services conducted by the Federal Government for Indians; and to encourage and support the development of tribal capacity to better manage the opportunities and responsibilities of self-determination through efficient application and execution of federal law, regulations, and policies as they pertain to federal contracting with federally recognized tribal entities.
